From August 2nd to 10th the 15th EU Youth Championships U8-U14 and the 24th Styrian Youth Open took place in Mureck, Styria. Around 140 participants from 18 nations competed nine rounds for international titles. Outstanding performances come from the Bulgarian team with Martin Dimitrov (U8) and Dilyana Ivanova. Both can win all nine games. The medal statistics shows Bulgaria as a clear first with three gold medals and four medals totally. The other gold medals were won from Austria (B U10), France (M U8), Romania (M U12), Poland (M U14) and Slovenia (B U14). Austria and Poland win like Bulgaria four medals overall. In the parallel Styrian Youth Open, Austria won three out of five competitions with Harald Hesl (U8), Thomas Leitner (U12) and Benjamin Kienböck (U14). The closing ceremony was made by Mayor Anton Vukan and organizer Erich Gigerl.
